Vitreoclar

Vitreoclar can be found on the market in the following forms:

• Vitreoclar Oro, 30 sticks, Sifi;
• Vitreoclar Plus, 30 tablets, Sifi;
• Vitreoclar, 30 tablets, Sifi.

In addition to its use in the treatment of eye infections, Vitreoclar can be considered for a wider range of ophthalmic conditions, under the close supervision of a doctor. Extended indications include:

• Vitreoclar can be used to treat deep corneal ulcers, which can occur as a result of corneal injuries or infections. Its use helps prevent the spread of infection and accelerates the healing of corneal tissues.
• A severe infection of the inside of the eye, called endophthalmitis, can be successfully treated with Vitreoclar as part of a comprehensive therapy. It can help fight the infection and reduce inflammation.
• After ophthalmic surgery, there is an increased risk of infection. Vitreoclar can be included in the post-operative protocol to minimise this risk and ensure a faster and complication-free recovery.
• Patients with chronic eye diseases, such as recurrent conjunctivitis or blepharitis, may develop secondary infections. Vitreoclar can be used to combat infections associated with these pre-existing conditions.
• Before certain ophthalmic surgeries, such as those for cataracts or glaucoma, Vitreoclar may be prescribed to reduce the risk of post-operative infections.

Vitreoclar should not be used in cases of hypersensitivity to ciprofloxacin or any other ingredient in this medicine. It is also contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to other fluoroquinolones.

Patients with a history of tendinitis or tendon ruptures related to the use of fluoroquinolones should be cautious before using Vitreoclar.

People with myasthenia gravis, a muscle disorder characterised by muscle weakness, should avoid using Vitreoclar.

Vitreoclar is not recommended for use in children under 1 year of age.

Patients with a history of neuropsychiatric disorders, such as epilepsy, should be cautious when using Vitreoclar, as this medicine may increase the risk of seizures or neuropsychiatric reactions.

Patients with severe renal impairment may require adjustment of Vitreoclar doses or may be more prone to excessive accumulation of the medicine in the body.

Each vial contains ciprofloxacin in the form of ciprofloxacin hydrochloride monohydrate. Other components include excipients such as benzalkonium chloride (a preservative) and purified water.

The recommended dose for adults and children over 1 year of age is one drop in the conjunctival sac affected by the infection, every 2 hours for the first two days of treatment, then every 4 hours on the following days. The duration of treatment will be determined by the treating physician.

Vitreoclar is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless the potential benefits justify the potential risks to the foetus or child. Talk to your doctor before using this medicine during these periods.

There are no known significant interactions between ciprofloxacin and alcohol. However, it is recommended to avoid excessive alcohol consumption during treatment, as this may influence the body's ability to heal and may diminish the effectiveness of the treatment.

Vitreoclar may cause temporary blurred vision after administration. Avoid driving or operating machinery if you experience such symptoms.

The use of Vitreoclar may lead to side effects, including burning or discomfort in the eyes, conjunctival redness, taste changes and abnormal sensations in the eyes. If you experience severe side effects, such as swelling or excessive itching, consult your doctor immediately.
