Vitamin B9 increases maternal folate levels. Adequate intake before and during pregnancy promotes proper fetal development, especially with regard to neural tube development. The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 400μg or more, at least one month before conception and up to three months after conception.

Each tablet of Densmore Folic Expert 5-MHTF contains 600 µg of vitamin B9 (or 5-MHTF), 1.4 mg of vitamin B6 and 0.38 µg of vitamin B12:

• Additional vitamin B9 increases maternal folate status. Low maternal folate is a risk factor for the development of neural tube defects in the developing fetus.
• The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of at least 400 µg of folic acid, at least one month before conception and up to three months after.
