Mepilex Border is a versatile, all-in-one foam dressing available in various shapes and sizes. It can be used to treat both chronic and acute wounds and is clinically proven to help prevent pressure ulcers. This trusted five-layer foam dressing contains Safetac—the original silicone-adhesive contact layer that minimizes dressing change pain. The Safetac layer adheres gently to the skin without sticking to the moist wound, allowing for easy removal without damaging the skin. This makes dressing changes less painful for your patients. The absorption layer immediately captures moisture and exudate, protecting the surrounding skin from maceration. The distribution layer spreads exudate evenly across the entire surface, helping the dressing last longer. The retention layer absorbs and holds back exudate, allowing the layer closest to the wound to continue absorbing more fluid. The protective layer prevents bacteria and viruses from entering the wound and achieves better moisture balance than other comparable dressings. Application areas of Mepilex Border:
You can use Mepilex Border to treat various exuding chronic and acute wounds, as well as wounds healing by secondary intention. The soft, conformable dressing maintains a moist wound environment and ensures effective absorption and retention of exudate. It is available in various sizes for wounds ranging from small to large. We also offer pre-shaped dressings for wounds on specific body parts, such as the foot or coccyx. Mepilex Border can also be used as part of a prophylactic treatment to prevent pressure ulcers. It has been proven to protect against the four external risk factors that can contribute to pressure ulcers: it reduces shear forces, redistributes pressure, reduces tension, and maintains an optimal microclimate. Application of Mepilex Border:
Clean the wound and dry the surrounding skin. Remove the protective film. Apply the adhesive side to the wound. Do not stretch the dressing. Remove the middle backing film. Place the adhesive side on the wound (do not stretch the product). Remove the side backing films. Smooth down the sides.
