How does L-Lysine help?

Viral infections grow when a virus takes control of a host cell and uses it to make more viruses. The virus injects its DNA into the host cell's nucleus, leaving instructions for building more viruses. The host cell is unable to distinguish between the viral DNA and its own DNA. The cell will continue to make more viruses until it bursts, releasing the viruses into the body to infect more cells.

An uninfected cell does not typically use much of the amino acid, arginine, while infected cells use a lot of arginine to make more viruses. The cell's natural chemical process that uses arginine is limited by the amount of L-lysine (another amino acid) available.
