Description

The 2x Ascorvita 1000 mg set is a medicinal product in the form of lemon-flavored effervescent tablets. It is intended for adolescents over 12 years of age and adults with vitamin C deficiency or increased demand.

Composition

The active substance is ascorbic acid ( Acidum ascorbicum ).

1 tablet contains 1000 mg of ascorbic acid.

Excipients: citric acid, sodium bicarbonate, sorbitol, corn starch, lemon flavor, aspartame, riboflavin sodium phosphate (color).

Dosage

Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you have any further questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age: usually 1 tablet dissolved in 1/2 glass of water or juice once a day.

The dosage should be determined individually according to the degree of deficiency assessed based on symptoms.

Action

Ascorvita's active ingredient, ascorbic acid, participates in numerous metabolic processes, plays an important role in oxidation-reduction processes, facilitating iron absorption, among other things. It participates in hemoglobin synthesis, and is essential for the formation of collagen and intercellular matrix, thus contributing to the proper development of cartilage, bones, and teeth. Vitamin C participates in wound healing, maintains the mechanical resistance of capillary walls, exhibits antioxidant properties, and enhances the body's immunity.

Indications

The indications for the use of Ascorvita are states of deficiency or increased demand for vitamin C.

Contraindications

Do not use Ascorvita if you are hypersensitive to the active substance or any of the other ingredients, or if you have kidney stones. Due to the aspartame content, do not use in patients with phenylketonuria. Due to the sorbitol content, do not use in patients with rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance.

Side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Doses exceeding 1000 mg per day may cause side effects: gastrointestinal complaints, nausea, vomiting and stomach cramps, and urinary tract stones.

Warnings and precautions

Special caution should be exercised and doses above 1 g per day of ascorbic acid should be avoided in people prone to gout, in patients with cystinuria, or excessive iron absorption from the gastrointestinal tract.

The medicine contains aspartame and sorbitol.

The medicine should be stored out of the sight and reach of children, at a temperature below 25°C, in a dry place, in a tightly closed container.

Use of other medications

Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all the medicines you are taking, have recently taken or might take.

The drug potentiates the effects and toxicity of oral anticoagulants, including warfarin derivatives and sulfonamides, and has a synergistic effect with flavonoid glycosides, increasing iron absorption. Particular caution should be exercised in patients taking tricyclic antidepressants and amphetamines.

Impact on laboratory tests

Vitamin C used in therapeutic doses may cause false positive results in urine sugar tests and false positive results in fecal occult blood tests.
