Traditionally, watercress was especially famous as a medicinal plant for women (in Germany it is also called "women's help"), being used in menstrual disorders and genital ailments. Naturopathic doctor and Swiss priest Künzle reveals: "two thirds of all women's surgeries would become unnecessary if this medicinal plant were used from time to time and for a longer period of time (...)".
Ingredients :
The aerial part of Alchemilla vulgaris L., fam. Rosaceae, which contains gallic tannins, flavonosides, proanthocyanins, fatty substances, mineral salts.
Effect:
Uterotonic, anti-inflammatory, astringent, hemostatic, antidiarrheal, cicatrizing.
Main uses:
Uterine hemorrhages, hemorrhagic cystitis or other causes of bloody urination, menstrual pain, menopausal disorders
Other uses:
Enterocolitis, hemorrhoids, stomatitis, wounds, eczema.
Contraindications:
The recommended doses are not known.
Preparation:
Internal use: make an infusion of 1 teaspoon of the plant to a cup of water.
External use: make an infusion of 2 tablespoons of the plant in 250 ml of water.
Usage :
Internal use: drink 3-4 cups of tea a day.
External use: gargle or apply compresses to the affected areas.
