Ingredients:
Folic acid (Vitamin B9) increases maternal folate levels. Active folate plays an important role in supporting the growth of maternal tissues during pregnancy and in the normal synthesis of amino acids.
Extrafolate-S ensures an adequate supply of active folate, essential for DNA synthesis and red cell formation, thus contributing to the prevention of anemia. This type of folate is already active in the body, making it more effective than folic acid, which must be converted to an active form to be used. A low maternal folate level is a risk factor for the development of neural tube defects in the developing fetus. Folic acid supplementation in pregnant women increases folate levels, thereby reducing the risk of neural tube defects in the fetus, as low folate levels are associated with an increased risk of these defects. For women of childbearing age, a supplement of 400 μg of folic acid daily is recommended, starting at least one month before and continuing until three months after conception.
