What is collagen?

Collagen is the main component of connective tissue (skin, tendons, cartilage, bones).
Made up of a triple helix of alpha chains of amino acids, it produces solid fibers used for the structure of the body.

What are the different types of collagen?

There are 23 different forms of collagen, including three main forms: 1, 2 and 3. The Biocyte laboratory uses a type 1 marine collagen. Type 1 collagen is found in the skin, bones, tendons, cornea and blood vessels of the human body.
