• Its name comes from the Greek words "eu" and "kalypto" meaning "good" and "covered" and refers to the appearance of the stamens.
• Eucalyptus was brought to Europe at the end of the 18th century, where it was first used for ornamental purposes.
• Eucalyptus oil began to be exported from the 19th century, at first being known as Sidney Peppermint, due to its mint-like properties.
