ActiveComplex Pycnogenol® contains a patented and standardized extract of pycnogenol® rich in active plant substances.
Pycnogenol® helps protect cells from oxidative stress (antioxidant action). Furthermore, it promotes good blood circulation.
Pycnogenol® is produced from the bark of the French maritime pine Pinus pinaster. The trees are grown in the Landes de Gascogne forest.
The wood is used for the production of furniture and each felled tree is replaced by a young plant. It is therefore a totally sustainable operation.
It takes approximately 1000kg of bark to produce 1kg of pycnogenol®. Furthermore, to preserve the active ingredients (bio-flavonoids, etc.), the extraction must be carried out within 48 hours of felling the tree.
The fresh bark is pulverized and subjected to an extraction process using a patented method. After thorough purification, the crude extract is spray dried and transformed into a fine brown powder.
The extract is then standardized to contain 70% +/- 5% active substances known as procyanidins.
