The prostate is a musculo-glandular organ that surrounds the initial portion of the urethra in men, having a role in the secretion of seminal fluid. Diseases that occur at the level of the prostate can be of an inflammatory nature (which appear as a result of bacterial infections) or tumors, which lead to an increase in the size of the prostate. The increase in volume of the prostate causes the urethra to narrow, which is why this type of condition can be accompanied by problems with urination. Benign prostatic hypertrophy and prostatic adenoma generally occur after the age of 40 and are due to the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone. The symptoms that appear in benign prostatic hypertrophy are: nocturia (nocturnal urination), pollakiuria (frequent urination, reduced in quantity), dysuria (difficulty urinating), urge to urinate, prolonged urination, etc. Complications of prostate adenoma are urinary obstruction, urinary incontinence and bacterial superinfections. For this reason, it is necessary to establish a treatment that prevents the aggravation of the disease and restores the function in the optimal parameters of the prostate.
