Lavasorb - ready-to-use wound irrigation solution and fluid for moistening wound dressings

Description:
Lavasorb is a ready-to-use solution for cleaning, rinsing, moistening, and decontaminating skin wounds. It is also intended for moistening wound dressings. Lavasorb is also used intraoperatively for cleaning and rinsing. Lavasorb contains polyhexanide as a preservative, which also has antimicrobial properties. Macrogol (polyethylene glycol 4000) optimizes wound surface moisturization by reducing surface tension. Polyhexanide prevents the growth of bacteria and fungi in the solution after the container has been opened, as well as in the wound dressing.

Composition:
1 liter contains: Polyhexanidum 0.40 g, Macrogolum 4000 0.02 g, sodium chloride 8.60 g, calcium chloride dihydrate 0.33 g, potassium chloride 0.30 g, purified water ad 1 liter. Theoretical osmolarity: 309 mosmol/l.

Application:

• Wound cleansing/wound irrigation/wound decontamination through direct application to the wound.
• Moisten compresses, which are left on the wound for 10-15 minutes to loosen biofilms.
• An antimicrobial effect on the wound can only be expected after an exposure time of > 30 minutes.
• Clean the wound with moistened cellulose or swabs.
• Intensive moistening of wound dressings to facilitate dressing changes.

Limitations of use:

• Lavasorb wound irrigation solution is not intended for infusion or injection.
• Lavasorb must not be used in case of hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients of Lavasorb.
• If the solution is not clear and/or the container is damaged.
• There is insufficient experience regarding its use in children and babies, so the use of Lavasorb in this age group should only be considered if absolutely necessary.
• There is insufficient experience regarding the use of Lavasorb during pregnancy. Therefore, Lavasorb should not be used during the first four months of pregnancy and should only be used during the following months if the expected benefit justifies the potential risks.

Instructions for storage and handling:

• Do not store above 25°C. Protect from direct sunlight.
• Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
• Do not use Lavasorb after the expiry date shown on the label.
• This solution is sterile before the bottle is opened. When handling and using sterile rinsing solutions, the principles of aseptic technique must be observed.
• The product has a shelf life of 6 weeks after opening the bottle.
• The bottle must be resealed immediately after use and the bottle opening must be protected from contamination by direct contact.
• Bottles that have come into contact with the wound must be discarded after use.
• Lavasorb can be warmed to body temperature immediately before use.
• Unused product should be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.
• The container is recyclable.

Hazards/First aid measures:
Harmful if swallowed. If swallowed: Rinse mouth with water. If more than 20 ml is swallowed, induce vomiting. Consult a doctor.

Further information for doctors and medical personnel:
Lavasorb must not be used:

• For infusion or injection
• In the eyes, as well as in the inner and middle ear
• Throughout the entire area of ​​the central nervous system and meninges, including intralumbar application.
• For intraperitoneal lavage
• In case of a risk of pressure-induced absorption, e.g., through the use of high-pressure irrigation systems (e.g., pressure irrigation of the medullary cavity)
• During aseptic joint surgery (risk of cartilage damage!)
