Prontosan X Wound Gel is a wound cleansing product based on purified water and two key ingredients: the antimicrobial agent polyhexamethylene biguanide (PHMB) and the surfactant betaine (0.1%). Prontosan X Gel is used for the cleansing and irrigation of acute and chronic wounds at risk of infection.

The product facilitates the complete removal of bacteria and contaminants from the wound, as well as the removal of biofilm.

It also eliminates unpleasant odors from wounds.

Prontosan X is suitable for small wounds, deep wounds and wounds located in hard-to-reach areas. When applied to a wound, betaine breaks down the biofilm, while the PHMB solution eliminates bacteria, leaving the wound clean.

Prontosan X Wound Gel has a high viscosity, making it very suitable for situations where a larger amount of product is required.

It can also be applied to sutured surgical wounds or post-traumatic wounds to prevent further microbial contamination.

The product should be applied frequently enough to allow easy removal of all layers of debris and necrotic tissue. This creates favorable conditions for proper wound healing and facilitates surgical debridement.

This medical device is not toxic to tissues.
The product is neither irritating nor sensitizing.
Accelerates the formation of granulation tissue and epithelialization.
Sterile.
Provides an effective bacteriological barrier.
Prontosan X effectively moisturizes the wound.
Polyhexanide is not absorbed systemically from wounds.
The product removes necrotic tissue from the wound. The dressing can be left in place for several days.
The product prevents secondary infections.
Effective for 8 weeks after opening the package.

Indications:

Cleaning wounds by removing exudates, secretions and crusts, while preventing biofilm formation.

Absorption of unpleasant wound odors.

For all types of wounds, infected or non-infected, including:

• First to fourth degree burns
• acute and chronic wounds
• larger wounds (lower limb ulcers, bedsores, diabetic foot)
• extensive superficial wounds.

Thick gel consistency: ideal for large superficial wounds, burns and ulcers. Can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Ingredients:

Water for injections, glycerol, hydroxyethylcellulose, undecylenamidopropyl betaine 0.1%, polyaminopropyl biguanide (polyhexanide) 0.1%.

Instructions for use:

Use daily. Wound surfaces should always be covered with a layer of gel at least 3–5 mm thick (applied to the wound surface or used to fill existing cavities or depressions).
The gel can also be used to soak or moisten dressings before applying them to the wound.
Apply the gel liberally to the wound; however, if the wound or the skin around it becomes excessively wet or macerated, change the dressing.
Apply a secondary dressing (over the gel).
The gel can be used in combination with various types of secondary dressings, including non-adherent dressings (such as gauze), absorbent non-woven dressings, foams, and self-adhesive dressings.
When using absorbent materials as part of the secondary dressing, apply a significantly larger amount of gel, as some of it will be absorbed by the dressing.
The gel can also be used with secondary dressings secured with a compression bandage. Leave the gel on the wound until the next dressing change (which may be daily or every few days).
Continue treatment until a stable and healthy wound bed is achieved, characterized by the presence of granulation tissue and the absence of biofilm.
It is recommended to reevaluate the treatment plan after 14 days, if the wound condition remains unchanged.

Warnings:

Protect the bottle from sunlight.
Keep out of reach of children.
Do not use in case of known or suspected allergy to betaine or PHMB.
Do not use on the central nervous system or meninges, in the middle or inner ear, in the eyes or on hyaline cartilage during surgery. Do not combine with other wound cleansing products or ointments. Although harmful effects of Prontosan are unlikely — as it is not systemically absorbed — its use by pregnant or breastfeeding women, as well as by children, should be done under medical supervision, due to the lack of adequate clinical studies.
