Taurine 500 mg GPH Capsules, 120 capsules
Description
Taurine 500 mg capsules contain 500 mg of taurine in a hard gelatin capsule. Taurine contains sulfur, as do L-methionine, L-cysteine, L-cystine, and the body's own antioxidant L-glutathione. Taurine has several biochemical functions. This amino acid is involved in the transport of ions—sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, and many others—across cell walls and other membranes. Taurine is found in significant concentrations in fish and meat, especially in brains. Taurine also has the important function of binding bile salts. Bile salts are an important end product of cholesterol metabolism. After oxidative conversion, the bile acids are bound to taurine and/or glycine. Thus, this amino acid counteracts the formation of gallstones.
Taurine is not of animal origin and is produced synthetically. The gelatin used in the hard gelatin capsules is BSE/TSE-tested pharmaceutical gelatin.
