The product is available as a mechanical grooming tool, intended for external use only. Within the Trixie range, the clippers are available in several versions to suit the needs of different species and animal sizes:

• Lux safety clippers with stainless steel blade – 12 cm 
• Lux safety clippers with stainless steel blade – 16 cm 

The 12 cm size is particularly recommended for cats and small animals, whilst the 16 cm version can be used for small, medium or large dogs.

The nail clippers are primarily intended for the regular maintenance of pets’ nails, helping to keep them healthy. Among the main situations in which the use of the tool is recommended are:

• overgrown claws, which can cause discomfort or changes in gait
• prevention of claws becoming ingrown into the paw pads
• reducing the risk of accidentally scratching owners or other animals
• maintaining the animal’s hygiene and appearance

The frequency of use of the clippers depends on several factors, including the animal’s species, activity level and rate of claw growth.

In general, the following is recommended:

• cats: clip claws every 2–4 weeks
• dogs: every 3–6 weeks, depending on the degree of natural wear
• small animals (rabbits, rodents): at varying intervals, as determined by the vet

For inexperienced owners, it is recommended to consult a vet initially to demonstrate the correct technique.

Use of the clippers should be avoided or carried out with caution in certain situations:

• inflamed or infected claws
• presence of nail injuries or fractures
• extremely agitated or aggressive animals, which may cause accidents
• suspected dermatological or foot problems

In these situations, it is recommended that the animal be examined by a vet.

The Trixie nail clippers are designed to ensure safety and ergonomics during use. Features that facilitate the procedure include:

• the rubberised handle, which prevents slipping;
• stainless steel blade, ensuring a clean cut;
• sizes adapted to different animal sizes.

To reduce the animal’s stress, it is recommended to carry out the procedure in a quiet environment and to use food rewards once it is complete.

Normally, correct use of the clippers does not cause any adverse effects. However, if used incorrectly, the following may occur:

• bleeding due to cutting through the vascularised part of the claw
• temporary pain

If bleeding occurs, it can be controlled by applying a haemostatic powder or by local compression.

The claw-cutting pliers are a mechanical instrument and therefore do not interact directly with medicines or food. However, certain conditions may influence the procedure:

• the administration of anticoagulants to animals may increase the risk of bleeding;
• some veterinary sedatives or anxiolytics may be used to facilitate the procedure in anxious animals.

The concept of overdose does not apply to this instrument. However, excessive clipping of the claw can lead to exposure of the vascularised area and bleeding. To prevent this, it is recommended:

• trimming in small stages
• using a good light source
• familiarising yourself with the anatomy of the animal’s claw.

To maintain the performance and durability of the instrument, it is recommended to observe the following storage conditions:

• store in a dry and clean place
• avoid prolonged exposure to moisture
• clean the blade after each use
• store out of reach of children

The stainless steel blade offers good corrosion resistance, but proper maintenance extends the product’s lifespan.
