Diatab for dogs is available as oral tablets, specially formulated to facilitate administration to dogs. 

Depending on the manufacturer, the product is sold in various types of packaging, such as:

• boxes of 6 or 60 tablets, each weighing 5 g,
• boxes of 20 individually wrapped tablets, particularly useful for first-aid kits or for use whilst travelling.

Diatab is primarily recommended for the relief of gastrointestinal disorders in dogs, particularly in cases of acute or spontaneous diarrhoea. Its use is indicated when intestinal transit is accelerated and significant loss of water and electrolytes occurs.

The main situations in which the product can be used include:

• episodes of acute diarrhoea of dietary or digestive origin;
• digestive disorders associated with a change in diet;
• imbalances in the intestinal flora;
• mild gastrointestinal disorders associated with stress or travel;
• digestive recovery following episodes of diarrhoea.

Diatab for dogs is administered orally, either directly or mixed with the animal’s food. The tablets are palatable, which makes them easy for most dogs to accept.

The recommended dose depends on the animal’s body weight, as follows:

• dogs under 10 kg: ½ tablet, twice daily, for 2–3 days;
• dogs between 10 and 20 kg: 1 tablet twice daily for 2–3 days;
• Dogs weighing over 20 kg: 1 tablet three times a day for 2–3 days.

According to available data, no specific contraindications for the use of Diatab in dogs have been reported. However, the product must be used in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and the vet’s recommendations.

In cases where diarrhoea persists for more than a few days, is severe, or is accompanied by symptoms such as fever, lethargy or persistent vomiting, a veterinary assessment of the animal is required to identify the cause and initiate appropriate treatment.

Diatab Dog is intended exclusively for veterinary use, and administration must be carried out in accordance with the instructions on the packaging or the specialist’s recommendations.

To achieve optimal results, it is important that the animal has constant access to fresh water, as episodes of diarrhoea can lead to dehydration. 

To date, no significant adverse reactions associated with the use of Diatab have been reported when administered as directed.

In rare cases, sensitive animals may experience slight changes in stool consistency or reduced acceptance of the tablets, but these situations are generally temporary.

There are no data to indicate significant interactions between Diatab and other veterinary medicines or food. 

However, due to its adsorbent properties, it is recommended that the product be administered at a time separate from other oral medicines to avoid reducing their absorption.

No cases of overdose associated with the use of Diatab have been reported. However, administering quantities greater than those recommended is not advised and offers no additional benefits.

In the event of accidental ingestion of an excessive dose, it is recommended to monitor the animal and consult a vet if any unusual symptoms occur.

The product should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from moisture and direct exposure to heat or light. The packaging must be kept tightly closed to protect the tablets from deterioration.

The product must also be kept out of the reach of children, and is intended for use in animals only.
