Glucose is a simple carbohydrate that is the main molecule for supplying the energy needed for the body's processes. Under the action of digestive enzymes, it is converted into free glucose. It is also available as a sweetener or medicine.
Forms of release
Glucose is available as a sweetener, supplement or medicine. Powdered glucose is used as a sweetener – crystallised glucose. There is also an injectable glucose solution.
Indications for use
Glucose is used as a sweetener or mixed with other products with sweetening properties to prepare various sweet dishes. Those who follow a specific diet aimed at reducing adipose tissue require 2–3 g of glucose per kilogram of body weight per day. Glucose doses should ideally be based on the doctor's or pharmacist's instructions, as well as individual needs.
Contraindications
Glucose is contraindicated in people with diabetes mellitus, glucose allergy, metabolic acidosis, severe renal failure, intraspinal and intracranial haemorrhage, and ischaemic stroke.

Side effects
