Samylin

Samylin is available in several pharmaceutical forms tailored to the animal’s size, to allow for easy administration and appropriate dosing.

The product is marketed in the following main variants:

• Samylin Small Breed – for dogs and cats weighing under 10 kg
• Samylin Medium Breed – for dogs weighing between 10 and 30 kg
• Samylin Large Breed – for large dogs weighing between 30 and 50 kg

The tablets have a special enteric coating, which protects the active ingredient from acid degradation in the stomach and allows it to be released in the small intestine, thereby increasing bioavailability and therapeutic efficacy.

Samylin for cats and dogs is recommended as a nutraceutical supplement to support liver function in dogs and cats, particularly in situations where the liver is affected or exposed to metabolic stress factors.

Use of the product is recommended in the following situations:

• acute or chronic liver disease;
• liver degeneration;
• hepatitis of toxic or metabolic aetiology;
• liver support during or after hepatotoxic drug treatments;
• recovery following poisoning or exposure to toxins.

Vet Plus Samylin should be administered in accordance with the veterinary surgeon’s recommendations and based on the animal’s body weight.

For Samylin Small Breed, animals weighing under 5 kg receive 1 sachet per day, and those between 5 and 10 kg receive 2 sachets per day, the contents being thoroughly mixed into the daily food.

For Samylin Medium Breed, dogs weighing between 11 and 20 kg receive 1 tablet per day, and those weighing between 21 and 30 kg receive 2 tablets per day.

For Samylin Large Breed, dogs weighing between 31 and 40 kg are given 2 tablets a day, and those weighing between 41 and 50 kg are given 3 tablets a day.

Samylin for cats and dogs is generally well tolerated; however, its use is contraindicated in cases of:

• known hypersensitivity to any of the product’s components;
• uncontrolled administration without veterinary supervision;
• certain severe metabolic conditions where the veterinarian considers it necessary to adjust the treatment regimen.

The product is intended for veterinary use only.

Samylin must be administered under veterinary supervision, particularly in animals with diagnosed liver disease.

Furthermore, for optimal efficacy, it is recommended to combine the product with a special diet tailored to the nutritional needs of animals with liver dysfunction. 

Samylin is considered a safe supplement, and adverse effects are rare. In isolated cases, the following may occur:

• mild digestive disturbances;
• temporary loss of appetite;
• minor gastrointestinal discomfort.

Generally, these symptoms are temporary and do not require discontinuation of treatment.

Samylin can be administered concurrently with most veterinary treatments, including antibiotics or anti-inflammatories, and is frequently used as a liver support during drug therapy.

However, it is recommended to consult a vet before administering it alongside other liver-protecting supplements or antioxidant products.

Available data indicate that accidental overdose with Samylin carries a low risk of toxicity.

However, administration of amounts significantly higher than the recommended dose may cause transient digestive disturbances, such as diarrhoea or vomiting.

Samylin should be stored in its original packaging, in a cool, dry place, protected from moisture and direct light. The recommended storage temperature is below 25°C, and the product should be kept out of the reach of children and pets.
