Activated charcoal is charcoal obtained by heating wood at high temperatures, in an anaerobic environment, which leads to the development of a network of micropores. The difference is that after this burning, an activation process follows. During this process, the coal is subjected to a treatment with substances that unclog its pores, thus increasing its efficiency 6-10 times. The result is a product with a much better capacity to adsorb different gases, microorganisms, toxic substances from the digestive tract.
