Game Measure me, +2 years, Play Dudu
measure me!
5 game boxes of different sizes with very fun illustrated animals , from the biggest to the smallest - with longest to shortest, pictures that help counting and colorful numbers.
There is also a measuring puzzle in the box that the child can play with and hang on the bedroom wall. An original set to approach the notion of length and to take the first steps in pre-measurement and pre-calculation.
Content:
- 5 boxes of progressive sizes, from 8 cm to 40 cm long
- The 120 cm jigsaw puzzle - Can be hung on the bedroom wall!
Instructions:
Using the five different boxes, children can have fun with measuring and pre-calculation activities.
These are intuitive, simple activities that allow children to spontaneously observe, compare, order and count.
• Pyramid of animals.
As a first step, show your child the illustrations, encouraging him to recognize and name the different animals. Then guide him to make various comparisons and observe: Notice that the boxes are different sizes, as are the animals on the boxes. We can encourage pairwise comparisons (Which is bigger, the bird or the cat?), and then increase the number of animals we compare, until we place all the animals in order of size, ascending or descending. The boxes can be placed next to each other or even better, on top of each other, to make a pyramid (fig. 1).
• How many are there?
Draw the child's attention to the faces of the boxes showing different numbers and the corresponding quantities, which are represented by subjects, outlines or abstract shapes. Comparing and matching numbers and quantities is quite a natural and spontaneous game. We can guide the child and interact with him, encouraging him to count the different subjects, find shapes, outlines and / or numbers and so on. Compare and match tasks are also useful for learning to distinguish colors and shapes.
• Pre-measurement activities.
Experiment with the basics of measurement by considering the front of the boxes with the colored squares that represent the basic unit of measurement. For example, let's "order the boxes" from smallest to largest or vice versa (fig. 2): your child can compare the lengths by counting how many times the basic unit of measurement is repeated on the different boxes.
• Pre-calculation activities.
The boxes can be placed side by side, on top of each other and compared to experience the child's first mathematical calculations. For example, your child may discover that the number 3 on the box can be made from the same box as number 1 and number 2 (fig. 3).
• Let's measure ourselves!
We can also experience the measurement on our body, using the height gradation on the puzzle. The puzzle is made with special slots so that it can be hung on the wall. Children can also play on the floor with it.
• Count and match!
There are 15 large tokens that can be inserted into the height chart, featuring the same animals as on the boxes. Your child can play counting by placing the tokens on the corresponding illustrations on the boxes. The child can then place the chips in the correct place on the height chart and experience the color play with the puzzle.
