Sea lions belong to the Otariidae family. They are carnivorous marine mammals that are able to live both on land and at sea.
However, like their cousin the seal, they spend most of their lives underwater and only go on land to rest and reproduce.
Sea lions are very good swimmers, they use their four limbs to swim, unlike the seal: the front legs are used for propulsion, and the hind legs for steering.
