ActiFolin ^® 2 mg is a food supplement in the form of film-coated tablets, the formula of which was developed for women who are planning to become pregnant. The preparation is a unique, complex source of folates, the so-called active form of fourth-generation folic acid, i.e. the glucosamine salt of (6S)-5-methyltetrahydrofolic acid and pteroylmonoglutamic acid. Each tablet contains 2000 µg of a valuable active ingredient to supplement the daily diet at such an important time for a woman and her unborn child.

Why should you supplement your diet with folic acid during pregnancy?

Folic acid is an organic chemical compound from the group of B vitamins. Its name comes from the Latin word folium , which means leaf. In vitamin preparations it is used as pteroylmonoglutamic acid or methylated folic acid. The methylated form of folic acid is considered the active form of folic acid because it does not require metabolism by the body after administration.

The use of folic acid supplements increases the concentration of folate in the mother's body. Low levels of maternal folic acid are a risk factor for the development of neural tube defects in the developing fetus. The beneficial effect occurs with an additional daily intake of 400 μg of folic acid at least one month before and at most three months after conception.

Folate contributes to the growth of maternal tissues during pregnancy. In addition, they also help in the proper synthesis of amino acids, while playing a role in the proper production of blood.
