Description
Calcium Lactic, 500 mg, 20 tablets, Zentiva
Composition:
One tablet contains calcium 65 mg in the form of calcium lactate pentahydrate 500 mg and excipients: corn starch, magnesium stearate, talc.
Pharmacotherapeutic group:
Mineral supplements, calcium preparations.
Therapeutic indications:
Treatment of calcium deficiency.
Prophylactic treatment of calcium deficiency when the need for calcium is increased (growing period, pregnancy, breastfeeding).
Adjuvant treatment of age-related osteoporosis, post-menopause, determined by corticotherapy, after prolonged immobilization.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug.
Hypercalcemia, hypercalciuria.
Tissue calcifications (nephrocalcinosis).
Calcic lithiasis.
Prolonged immobilization accompanied by hypercalciuria and/or hypercalcemia (calcium treatment must be administered when mobility is resumed).
Precautions:
The simultaneous administration of calcium and vitamin D must be carried out under strict medical supervision.
In the case of long-term treatment, it is recommended to monitor the calcium level and reduce the doses or stop the treatment immediately if it exceeds the normal values.
Interactions:
Digitalis: the oral administration of calcium, especially if it is associated with vitamin D, increases the toxicity of digitalis, with the risk of serious rhythm disorders. Strict calcium and electrocardiographic monitoring is recommended.
Oral tetracyclines: it is recommended to delay calcium intake by at least 3 hours (possible interaction with tetracycline absorption).
Vitamin D in large doses: weekly control of calcium and calcemia is required.
Sodium fluoride: the administration of the two drugs at a certain time interval should be taken into account.
Bisphosphonates: risk of decreased digestive absorption of bisphosphonates. The administration of calcium salts more than 2 hours after the administration of bisphosphonates should be taken into account.
Iron salts: decrease in the digestive absorption of iron salts. Iron must be administered a few hours after a meal; should not be administered simultaneously with calcium.
Thiazide diuretics: risk of hypercalcemia by decreasing urinary calcium excretion.
Special warnings:
In case of renal failure, it is recommended to monitor calciuria and calcemia; the administration of large doses should be avoided.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding:
The medicine can be administered during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The daily dose should not exceed 1500 mg of calcium (23 tablets).
Ability to drive vehicles or use machinery
The medicine does not affect the ability to drive vehicles or use machines.
Doses and method of administration:

Children:
- children aged between 6 and 10 years: the recommended dose is 750 mg - 800 mg calcium (12 - 13 Lactic Calcium tablets) per day.
