The designer presented Coco with several fragrances to choose from, she liked one of the samples the most, marked with the number 5 - this name was decided not to change. In 1986, Jacques Polge reinterpreted the composition of his predecessor Ernest Beaux to create a fuller, more extensive version of the feminine fragrance forever: eau de parfum.

At the time of its launch, No.5 was a revolutionary perfume - while all previous ones focused on the scent of one type of flower, here this rule was broken and a rich bouquet of scents was created - rose, jasmine and ylang-ylang from the Comoro Islands were combined with synthetic aldehydes, which strengthened and highlighted the floral scent.
