Magnesium is an alkali metal, identified for the first time in 1755 by the English scientist Joseph Black. Its name comes from the Greek language, Magnesia being the name of a region in Thessaly. This alkaline substance has an extremely important role in the development of animals and plants, intervening in many vital physiological reactions, such as the metabolism of sugars, fats and proteins, enzyme activities, neuromuscular excitability, cell permeability, blood coagulation, etc. The body of an adult human being contains about 25 grams of magnesium, of which more than 50% is found in bones, 25% in muscle tissue, the rest is distributed in the heart, liver, kidneys, digestive tract and plasma. A tiny amount of magnesium is in our blood, but it has an extremely important role for the functioning of the body, which in the absence of this constituent mineral actually collapses.
THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ORGANIC MAGNESIUM AND OTHER FORMS OF MAGNESIUM
Being such an important mineral, magnesium was quickly transformed into medicine, being obtained both through synthesis processes and through natural extraction. However, the difference between synthetic and organic magnesium is great, primarily from the point of view of therapeutic efficiency. Synthetic magnesium is obtained as a by-product in the industrial processes of obtaining some metals, being more difficult to assimilate by the body and has only a part of the therapeutic effects of natural magnesium. Natural magnesium is extracted from seawater, from where it is obtained through successive filtrations, resulting in a cocktail of magnesium oxide, chloride, sulfate and hydroxide, mixed in the proportions left by nature. In order to become alive or, with other organic ingredients, marine magnesium is also mixed with another remarkable 100% natural product: brewer's yeast, whose impressive "army" of B-complex vitamins make magnesium assimilable and give it the expected therapeutic qualities
