Trimethylglycine (TMG), also called betaine anhydrous, is a substance produced in the body from choline. It is a "methyl donor" because it donates a methyl group (CH3) to another molecule. The donation of a methyl group to another molecule (methylation) can accelerate or maintain the normal biosynthesis processes of hormones, neurotransmitters, nucleic acids, proteins, phospholipids, etc. in the body.
