Although the recommended dose for oral use is around 100mg/day, the therapeutic effects are obtained at doses generally in the 2-10 g/day range. The oral use of amounts greater than about 3 grams of unbuffered vitamin C daily may induce laxation and may be more difficult or even impossible to tolerate by people with a sensitive or damaged stomach.
