Red Yeast Rice has been used for centuries in China, both in food and medicine. The food use was mainly as a coloring agent, but also as a flavor in the preparation of food products. It has been used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat indigestion, diarrhea and to improve blood circulation.
Red yeast rice is a source of monacolin K, a substance also known as "lovastatin", which can reduce the plasma concentration of LDL cholesterol. Monacolin K inhibits the production of cholesterol by blocking the enzyme in the liver, which is responsible for the production of cholesterol. Only non-GM organic European rice is used for this supplement, and the raw ingredient is produced in a dedicated institution in Europe. Each Natures Aid red rice yeast capsule contains 600 mg of red rice yeast, and 3 capsules per day provide 10 mg of monacolin K, which is necessary for the EFSA guarantee in maintaining cholesterol within normal limits.

Mode of administration:

Contraindications/Precautions:
This supplement is contraindicated for people who have liver problems or are already under cholesterol-lowering treatment. Do not use during pregnancy and/or breastfeeding. We recommend people who follow red rice yeast supplements to take between 30 and 60 mg of Coenzyme Q10 at the same time, because its production can be affected by substances that inhibit cholesterol production.
