How to use
Checking the valves
Before use, check that both valves are functioning properly. To do this, position the Babyhaler chamber directly in front of your face and press the mask to your mouth. Holding the device in this position, you will see both blue valves. Inhale and exhale slowly through the mask. As you exhale, the outer (upper) valve should move slightly. As you inhale, the inner valve should move slightly. If not, carefully read the instructions regarding the valves. Preparing the medication dispenser: Remove the mouthpiece cover. Shake the dispenser vigorously. Lightly press the medication dispenser into its holder. The mouthpiece should point towards the back of the device.
Administering the drug
The doctor will determine how many doses of medication the child should receive each time. Remember, only one dose is administered into the device at a time. Hold the child. Hold the Babyhaler holding chamber in your other hand, holding it horizontally. Press the medication dispenser once with your thumb, dispensing one dose of medication into the chamber. Then, as quickly as possible, place the mask over the child's mouth and nose (use the Babyhaler holding chamber in the position most comfortable for the child). Make sure the mask seals tightly around the child's nose and mouth. [If using the Babyhaler holding chamber is very difficult, you can try again when the child is asleep. Please note that the Babyhaler holding chamber should be held horizontally while pressing the dosing device and releasing the dose of medication.] Hold the Babyhaler holding chamber until the child takes 5-10 breaths (approximately 15 seconds). You can count the child's breaths by observing the movement of the device valve. After the appropriate time, put the Babyhaler holding chamber aside. If your doctor has prescribed two doses of medication for your child, repeat the procedure described above. Remove the dosing chamber containing the medication from the device. Place the cover over the mouthpiece of the dosing chamber. The Babyhaler holding chamber should be stored in its protective bag.
