PECTO-TISANA PLUS is a food supplement made up of four medicinal plants that helps overcome respiratory ailments. Eucalyptus: The EMA and ESCOP (1,2) indicate its use for relieving coughs associated with colds or for the symptomatic treatment of upper respiratory tract infections. The essential oil from its leaves, rich in eucalyptol or 1,8-cineole, is what gives it its antitussive, expectorant, and antiseptic properties. Marshmallow contains mucilage, which coats the pharyngeal mucosa and provides an anti-inflammatory action, thus reducing coughs and irritation, as well as promoting rehydration. The EMA approves its use for the treatment of pharyngeal irritation associated with dry coughs (1,3). Thyme leaves contain essential oils, among which thymol stands out. Thyme has antitussive activity (approved by EMA and ESCOP)(1,4), as well as expectorant and antiseptic activity, due to the elimination of thymol and carvacrol via the respiratory tract.
