The Mepilex Border Heel foam dressing is ideal for preventing pressure ulcers on the heel and treating exuding wounds on the heel. The heel area, especially for immobile patients, requires particular attention. Due to the intense pressure it bears, it is constantly at risk and therefore prone to developing wounds or pressure ulcers. The Mepilex Border Heel foam dressing is unique in that it features five different layers specifically designed for heel application. This makes it suitable for a wide variety of wound types.

Thanks to its unique structure, this foam dressing can be used to treat exuding wounds such as pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, heel ulcers, traumatic wounds, and other wounds healing by secondary intention. Its effective exudate and wound environment management makes it versatile. With its five distinct layers, the adhesive foam dressing creates an optimal healing environment for treating moderately to heavily exuding heel wounds. Exudate is absorbed and effectively retained. Furthermore, by maintaining adequate fluid balance, the heel foam dressing minimizes the risk of maceration. When used in conjunction with other standard prevention protocols, this adhesive heel foam dressing has also been proven to help prevent the development of pressure ulcers.

Mepilex Border Heel was specifically designed to meet the unique needs of the heel area. Our new and improved design therefore includes new tabs and thicker edges, allowing for faster application and patient assessment. The heel shape has also been optimized to provide ideal coverage of the heel and ankle. Furthermore, our new design features Safetac – the original silicone adhesive layer that minimizes pain during dressing changes. The dressing adheres gently to the skin without sticking to the moist wound. Thanks to this technology, you can easily remove the foam dressing without damaging the skin, making dressing changes less painful for your patients.

Mepilex Border Heel has been proven to help prevent pressure ulcers. You can use this dressing prophylactically on high-risk patients, such as bedridden patients, patients with poor skin circulation and compromised skin condition, in emergency rooms, intensive care units, or before and during lengthy surgical procedures. Scientific studies have shown that our foam heel dressing can protect against the four external risk factors that can contribute to pressure ulcers: It reduces and redistributes shear forces, redistributes pressure, reduces friction, and maintains an optimal microclimate.
