Description
Mepilex Transfer
Primary wound contact layer for directing exudate into a secondary dressing
The drainage-capable foam Mepilex Transfer is used as the primary wound contact layer. Its structure wicks exudate away from the wound and allows the fluid to drain into an absorbent secondary dressing. This combination of dressings helps maintain a moist wound environment. Our Mepilex Transfer dressing is soft, thin, and highly conformable. This ensures that the dressing remains in contact with the wound surface and surrounding skin, even on difficult-to-dress areas. The dressing lies softly against the skin without sticking to the moist wound – thanks to Safetac, the original silicone-based contact layer that minimizes pain. It can be easily removed without damaging the skin, making dressing changes less painful for your patients. The wound edges are also sealed to protect the skin from damaging leakage and maceration.
- Minimizes pain during dressing changes.
- Practical and adaptable for difficult-to-treat wounds.
- You can cut it to fit a wide variety of wound shapes.
- It directs exudate away from the wound, thus minimizing the risk of maceration.
- Promotes patient comfort – thin and comfortable to wear.
Application areas of Mepilex Transfer:
Mepilex Transfer was developed for wounds that are slightly to very heavily exuding and difficult to treat. The dressing can also be used alone as a protective layer on non-exuding wounds and/or large areas of fragile skin. In combination with a secondary dressing, Mepilex Transfer wicks exudate away from the wound and allows it to drain into the secondary dressing, such as a compress like Mextra Superabsorbent. Mepilex Transfer can remain on the wound for several days, so only the secondary dressing needs to be changed.
Areas of application:
- Chronic wounds such as leg ulcers or leg wrap ulcers.
- Tumor wounds, ulcerating tumors.
- Burns up to grade 2a.
- Epidermolysis Bullosa.
- Radiation-induced skin damage.
Application of Mepilex Transfer:
- Clean the wound and dry the surrounding skin. Remove the protective film from the open side.
- Mepilex Transfer should be applied at least 5 cm onto the healthy, wound-surrounding skin.
- Apply a suitable absorbent secondary dressing, e.g. Mextra Superabsorbent, and secure it.
