Product features:
Micro-adhesive wound dressing with polyabsorbent fibers. UrgoClean is an innovation from Laboratoires Urgo in the form of a sterile non-woven dressing made of highly absorbent and cohesive polyabsorbent fibers [polyacrylate]. This innovation is based on structurally bonding the polyacrylate fibers together in a plane parallel to the wound through thermal die-cutting, giving UrgoClean its specific properties:
- Absorption and containment of fibrinous deposits and wound exudate.
- High tensile strength.
The polyabsorbent fibers of the UrgoClean dressing are coated with a micro-adhesive TLC wound healing matrix (Technology LipidoColloid), which easily forms a gel and thus facilitates the drainage of fibrinous deposits as well as the positioning and removal of the wound dressing.
This product is a medical device. Please read the instructions in the package leaflet carefully and familiarize yourself thoroughly with the functions and use of the product before use.
Characteristics:
- Absorption of exudates, gel formation and drainage of fibrinous tissue residues during the cleansing phase.
- Absorption and entrapment of bacteria through the structure of the polyabsorbent polyacrylate fibers.
- In contact with the wound, it maintains a moist wound environment that promotes the healing of the cleaned wound areas.
- Easier control of light bleeding.
- The wound dressing can be removed in one piece thanks to the tensile strength of the polyabsorbent fibers.
- Atraumatic and painless removal of the wound dressing and protection of the wound environment thanks to the micro-adhesive TLC wound healing matrix.
Indications:
UrgoClean is suitable for use immediately from the cleaning phase onwards for exuding, chronic wounds (lower leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, including malum perforans) and potentially fibrinous wounds such as acute wounds [burns, abrasions, traumatic wounds], postoperative wounds and tumor-related wounds.
Contraindications:
Do not use if you are known to be hypersensitive to UrgoClean or any of its ingredients. Do not use UrgoClean as a surgical dressing on heavily bleeding wounds.
Mechanism of action:
- In contact with the wound exudate, the lipidocolloid particles of the TLC wound healing matrix form a gel, which provides a moist environment that promotes wound cleansing.
- At the same time, the polyabsorbing polyacrylate fibers form a gel, bind fibrinous deposits, absorb them and transport them into the fiber structure (autolytic wound cleansing).
- As a result, the fixation and drainage of fibrinous deposits due to the polyabsorbing structure of UrgoClean in conjunction with the TLC wound healing matrix promotes the cleaning of fibrinous wounds.
Instructions for use:
1. Wound preparation:
- Clean the wound according to the usual care protocol and rinse with sterile physiological saline solution.
- If an antiseptic has been used previously, the wound should be thoroughly rinsed with sterile physiological saline solution before applying UrgoClean.
- The use of UrgoClean does not preclude mechanical cleaning if necessary.
2. Applying the bandage:
- Remove the protective films from the micro-adhesive side.
- Apply the micro-adhesive side of UrgoClean directly to the wound and its irregularities.
- If necessary, UrgoClean can be cut with sterile scissors to adjust the size of the dressing to the wound.
- Cover UrgoClean with a secondary dressing adapted to the location and exudation level of the wound.
3. Dressing change:
- UrgoClean should be changed every 1 to 2 days during the wound cleansing phase; after that, the frequency of dressing changes should be adjusted to the volume of wound exudate and the clinical development of the wound (maximum wearing time 7 days).
- Dispose of any unused UrgoClean residue in accordance with local regulations.
Warnings and precautions:
- UrgoClean's micro-adhesive TLC matrix adheres to latex surgical gloves. Therefore, it is recommended to avoid contact with the coated side when handling the dressing or to use sterile tweezers.
- The simultaneous use of a cream, ointment or emulsion is not recommended.
- During the cleansing phase, the wound may enlarge due to the progressive removal of fibrinous tissue.
- Due to its non-occlusive properties, UrgoClean can also be used on infected wounds under strict medical supervision.
- UrgoClean must not be used in a hyperbaric chamber.
- Do not re-sterilize the wound dressing.
- Check the integrity of the sterile individual packaging before use. Do not use the dressing if the sterile individual packaging is damaged.
- Sterile single packaging intended for single use only: Reusing a single-use wound dressing can cause infection risks.
