Description Gastimax Med
The information in the FAQ section was created by the Liki24.co.uk team and is based on the official manufacturer's manual
Gastimax Med is a modern medical device designed to manage the symptoms of gastro-oesophageal reflux, based on a physical, local mechanism of action that does not involve systemic absorption. Gastimax Med Fiterman represents an effective therapeutic option for patients suffering from retrosternal burning, acid regurgitation, indigestion or ENT symptoms associated with reflux.
Forms of supply
Gastimax Med is available in two pharmaceutical forms, tailored to the preferences and needs of different patient groups:
- Gastimax Med chewable tablets – bottle of 30 tablets, intended for oral administration by chewing, with a pleasant mint flavour.
- Gastimax Med oral suspension – 200 ml bottle, with measuring cup, for oral administration, with the same mint flavour and a similar efficacy profile.
Both forms are available without a prescription and have comparable indications and mechanisms of action.
Indications for use
The Gastimax Med medical device is recommended for the treatment of symptoms associated with gastro-oesophageal reflux, such as:
- a burning sensation in the upper chest (heartburn);
- acid regurgitation;
- indigestion and postprandial discomfort;
- chronic cough and inflammation of the pharynx or larynx associated with reflux.
Symptoms may occur after large, fatty or spicy meals, during pregnancy, but also in patients with reflux oesophagitis, which presents with dysphagia, odynophagia, tender spots on the oral mucosa or vomiting.
Dosage regimen
For chewable tablets, adults, the elderly and children over 12 years of age should take 2–4 tablets after meals and at bedtime, up to four times a day. The tablets must be chewed thoroughly before swallowing.
For the oral suspension, in adults, the elderly and children over 12 years of age, administer 10–20 ml after meals and before bedtime, up to four times a day. Shake the bottle before use and wash the measuring cup after each dose.
Contraindications
Gastimax Med is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the product’s components.
Before taking Gastimax Med, consult your doctor if you have chronic kidney or heart failure.
Special instructions for use
Gastimax Med acts locally, without systemic absorption, making it suitable for use even in the elderly or in patients undergoing long-term treatment.
In children under 12 years of age, both forms of Gastimax Med should only be used after consulting a paediatrician.
Side effects
Gastimax Med is generally well tolerated. Mild adverse reactions, such as temporary bloating or a feeling of fullness in the stomach, may rarely occur. Allergic reactions are very rare, but require discontinuation of treatment.
If you experience any unpleasant symptoms, consult your doctor or pharmacist. For further information, please also refer to the Gastimax Med package leaflet.
Interactions with other medicines and food
Due to its physical mechanism of action, Gastimax Med does not cause any significant systemic drug interactions. However, it is recommended to take it at least 2 hours apart from other oral medicines, such as antibiotics, corticosteroids or diuretics, to avoid affecting their absorption.
Food does not adversely affect the efficacy of the product; on the contrary, administration after meals is essential for the proper formation of the protective barrier.
Overdose
No cases of clinically significant overdose with Gastimax Med have been reported. Taking doses higher than those recommended may exacerbate abdominal discomfort or bloating; in such cases, it is recommended to temporarily discontinue treatment and consult a doctor.
Storage conditions
The product should be stored at room temperature, in its original packaging, away from moisture and direct light. The bottle of oral suspension must be tightly closed after each use and kept out of the reach of children.
