Molutrex

ACM Molutrex is available as a 3 ml skin solution containing 50 mg of potassium hydroxide per millilitre, dissolved in purified water. The packaging is equipped with an applicator for precise dosing and safe use. This liquid form allows the solution to penetrate evenly into the stratum corneum of the skin, promoting keratolytic and antiviral action at the site of the lesions.

ACM Molutrex solution is indicated for the topical treatment of skin lesions caused by Molluscum contagiosum, regardless of their location (hands, trunk, thighs, neck, axillary region or external genital area).

Through its keratolytic effect, Molutrex causes a local inflammatory reaction that signals the presence of the virus to the immune system, facilitating the natural elimination of infected cells.

Molutrex ACM is applied locally, exclusively on Molluscum contagiosum lesions requiring treatment, avoiding contact with healthy skin.

It is recommended to apply 1-2 times a day, in the morning and in the evening, using the applicator provided in the bottle. If the treated area shows signs of inflammation (redness, slight swelling or burning sensation), treatment should be discontinued, as this indicates the activation of the virus elimination mechanism.

Molutrex solution should not be used:

• in children under 2 years of age;
• in cases of known hypersensitivity to potassium hydroxide or any of the excipients;
• on mucous membranes, around the eyes or on damaged skin (scratched, cracked, with open wounds);
• on infected, inflamed or suppurating lesions;
• in patients with acute atopic eczema;
• in people with immunodeficiency (congenital or acquired);
• during breastfeeding, on areas that may come into contact with the infant.

Molutrex should be applied precisely, only on Molluscum contagiosum lesions, using the applicator provided. If the solution accidentally comes into contact with healthy skin, the area should be rinsed immediately with plenty of water.

The product is for external use only and should not be ingested. 

Like any product with active topical action, Molutrex may cause local reactions, which are usually mild and transient. The most common include:

• a burning or stinging sensation immediately after application;
• erythema (redness) and local irritation;
• the appearance of a moderate inflammatory reaction, a sign that the treatment is working effectively.

Severe reactions, such as extensive chemical burns or secondary infections, are rare and generally occur as a result of incorrect use.

No systemic interactions between Molutrex and other medicines have been reported, as its action is exclusively local, with no significant absorption. 

However, it is recommended to avoid simultaneous application with other irritating or exfoliating dermatological preparations.

Overdose through excessive application can cause severe irritation, superficial chemical burns or extensive inflammation. In such cases, the affected area should be rinsed immediately with plenty of water and treatment stopped. If painful lesions or secondary infections occur, medical advice should be sought.

Accidental ingestion requires emergency medical intervention, as potassium hydroxide is a corrosive substance that can cause serious damage to the digestive mucosa.

Molutrex should be stored at room temperature, away from direct light and heat sources. It is recommended to store the bottle upright and tightly closed after each use. The product should be kept out of the reach of children.
