Description Saccharin
The information in the FAQ section was created by the Liki24.co.uk team and is based on the official manufacturer's manual
Saccharin is used as a sugar substitute in the diet of diabetics or those who want to lose weight.
How much sugar does a saccharin tablet contain?
Saccharin does not contain sugar, it is only an alternative to it. Saccharin is a synthetic substance that is poorly soluble in water and has a sweetening power 500 times greater than that of sugar and 300 times greater than that of sucrose.
What does saccharin contain?
Each tablet contains sodium saccharin in various concentrations.
Saccharin can also come in liquid form and contains the sweeteners sodium cyclamate and saccharin sodium, water, fructose, acidity regulator, citric acid, and potassium sorbate preservative.
When is it recommended to use Zaharina?
In most cases, saccharin is used by diabetics, but also by those suffering from obesity and in situations where sugar intake is not permitted or recommended.
Does saccharin have any side effects?
In very few cases, there have been reactions of photosensitivity and hypersensitivity.
Laboratory tests on rats have shown an induction of bladder tumours, but this effect does not occur in humans.
Is saccharin healthy?
Studies show that although saccharin is a good aid in the fight against weight gain, it is not the healthiest solution. The most readily available sugar-free alternative in terms of beverages is water, so we cannot consider saccharin to be the best option.
How much saccharin can be used?
Although there is no limit to the number of tablets used daily, it is recommended that saccharin be used in optimal amounts of approximately 2.5 mg/kg body weight to 5 mg/kg body weight.
For children, the amount of saccharin administered will be determined by a doctor.
Does saccharin cause weight gain?
Saccharin is a component widely used in diet products (light drinks, drops, chewing gum, jam, toothpaste and mouthwash) and in food supplements, as it contains no calories and therefore does not cause weight gain. Saccharin is also found in cosmetics and medicines.
Saccharin is used as a sweetener in various beverages: compote, fruit juice, tea, milk, and is added after they have been heated. When boiled, saccharin acquires a bitter taste.
How does saccharin work?
Saccharin is rapidly absorbed in the digestive tract. It is eliminated unchanged, almost entirely within 24 to 48 hours, and therefore has no pharmacological action.
How should Zaharina be stored?
Zaharina should be stored in its original packaging, in a cool place at a temperature not exceeding 25 degrees Celsius and protected from moisture.
Is it safe to use Zaharina during pregnancy?
Although the consumption of Zaharina is permitted, there are studies on its effects on the foetus that claim it may increase the risk of metabolic and chronic diseases. Therefore, it is advisable to seek medical advice if you wish to consume Zaharina during pregnancy.
In what forms can we find saccharin on the market?
Saccharin can be found on the market in various forms: saccharin tablets, Diamant saccharin and Diamant liquid saccharin.

Sucrose, 100 tablets, Alevia
This saccharin is not really to my liking when it comes to sweetening hot drinks. I've taken to using it strictly for coffee but personally, I don't like the overly chemical and sweet taste of this saccharin.

Zaharina Diamant, 650 tablets, Kruger
I use it daily in tea, coffee, even in cakes to keep blood sugar within normal limits. It has the best taste of all "saccharin" products.
