Description Urinovet
The information in the FAQ section was created by the Liki24.co.uk team and is based on the official manufacturer's manual
Urinovet is a veterinary nutritional supplement formulated to support urinary tract health in dogs and cats, and is used in particular for the management of lower urinary tract infections, crystalluria and urolithiasis. Urinary tract disorders are a common problem in veterinary medicine, affecting both dogs and cats, and may be associated with clinical signs such as dysuria, pollakiuria, haematuria or discomfort during urination.
Forms of supply
VetExpert Urinovet is available in several pharmaceutical forms tailored to different species and therapeutic needs:
- UrinoVet Dog – oral tablets for dogs, available in bottles of 30 tablets.
- UrinoVet Cat Twist Off – soft capsules for cats, available in packs of 45 capsules.
- UrinoVet Cat Dilution Twist Off – capsules for cats prone to urinary stones or with recurrent urinary tract infections, available in packs of 45 capsules.
Indications for use
UrinoVet is indicated for dogs and cats in the following clinical situations:
- lower urinary tract infections;
- predisposition to recurrent urinary tract infections;
- crystalluria or urolithiasis, regardless of the type of urinary stones;
- the recovery period following surgical procedures to remove urinary stones;
- protection of the urinary tract following catheterisation procedures.
Cranberry extract contains proanthocyanidins (PAC A2 and PAC B2) which interfere with the adhesion mechanisms of pathogenic bacteria, particularly Escherichia coli, preventing them from attaching to the epithelial cells of the urinary tract.
Dosage regimen
Urinovet is administered orally, and the dosage depends on the species and body weight of the animal.
For dogs, the recommended dose is 1 tablet per 10 kg of body weight per day, administered as directed by the vet.
For Urinovet Cat Dilution and Urinovet Cat, the usual dose is 1 capsule per day, administered directly or by mixing the contents with food.
The duration of treatment may vary depending on the severity of the condition and the individual response of the animal, and is determined by the attending veterinarian.
Contraindications
VetExpert Urinovet Cat and Dog is generally well tolerated by dogs and cats. However, the product should not be used in animals with known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients in the formula.
Furthermore, administration should be carried out with caution in animals with severe metabolic disorders or on special therapeutic diets, and consultation with a veterinarian is recommended prior to use.
Special considerations
For optimal results, Urinovet should be used as part of a comprehensive therapeutic approach that may include a specific veterinary diet, adequate hydration and medication where necessary.
In cats with urolithiasis or a predisposition to urinary stone formation, it is important to monitor urinary parameters regularly and maintain an adequate fluid intake.
Side effects
Adverse effects associated with the administration of Urinovet are rare. In isolated cases, mild digestive disturbances such as diarrhoea or gastrointestinal discomfort may occur, particularly at the start of treatment.
These symptoms are usually temporary and disappear as treatment continues or the dose is adjusted.
Interactions with other medicines and food
No significant interactions between Urinovet and other veterinary medicines have been reported. The supplement may be used concurrently with antibiotics, anti-inflammatories or therapeutic diets for urinary conditions.
However, it is recommended that you inform your vet of all medicines or supplements being given to the animal.
Overdose
Data on overdose are limited. If doses higher than those recommended are administered, mild digestive disturbances or gastrointestinal discomfort may occur.
If overdose is suspected, it is recommended to discontinue administration and consult a vet.
Storage conditions
Urinovet should be stored in the original packaging at temperatures below 25°C, protected from moisture and direct light.
The product must be kept out of the reach of children and animals.
