Combi-Screen PLUS test strips for urine analysis

Combi-Screen PLUS are urine test strips for the rapid determination of multiple parameters such as ascorbic acid (vitamin C), bilirubin, blood, glucose, ketone bodies, leukocytes, nitrite, pH, protein, specific gravity, and urobilinogen. They serve as a rapid test for the diagnosis and early detection of diabetes, liver and hemolytic diseases, metabolic disorders, and diseases of the urogenital tract. Application and benefits

The test strips are used for the initial assessment of urine samples, for example, in cases of suspected diabetes mellitus, liver or biliary tract diseases, carbohydrate metabolism disorders, and inflammation or infections of the urogenital tract. Among other things, the urine is detected by the presence of blood, glucose, ketones, leukocytes, and nitrite, which can indicate inflammatory or metabolic changes. Evaluation is performed visually by comparing the color of the test pads with the color scale on the packaging.

Correct execution

Use only well-mixed, uncentrifuged urine that has not been standing for more than 4 hours; first morning urine is recommended. Protect the sample from light. If immediate measurement is not possible, store the urine sample at 2–4 °C and warm it to 15–25 °C before measurement. Collection containers must be clean and free of disinfectant or detergent residues; no preservatives should be added.

Remove only the number of test strips needed immediately and reseal the container with the original stopper right away. Do not touch the reaction zones of the test strips. Briefly immerse the test strip completely (approximately 2 seconds) in the urine sample, ensuring all test pads are wetted, and wipe off any excess urine on the side of the container or on absorbent paper. Hold the strip horizontally during the reaction time to prevent the reagent from spreading between the pads. Compare the reaction colors after 60 seconds (60–120 seconds for leukocytes) with the color scale; color changes only at the edge or after more than 2 minutes should not be interpreted. Visual evaluation should be performed in diffuse daylight.

Storage and shelf life

Store the test strips in the original container, tightly closed, in a cool, dry place between 2 and 30 °C, and protect them from sunlight and moisture. If stored correctly, the test strips are usable until the printed expiration date. Always remove the strips promptly and reseal the container immediately to protect the reagents from humidity.

Important information and safety

These test strips are intended solely for in-vitro diagnostic use and are suitable only for trained personnel, not for self-testing. A definitive diagnosis should not be made based solely on individual test strip results, but only in conjunction with other medical findings; if you are unsure, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Do not swallow the strips or allow contact with the eyes or mucous membranes; keep them out of reach of children. The composition of urine can vary, therefore the intensity and color of the reactions may, in rare cases, differ. Always refer to the instructions for use of the respective device when performing reflectometric evaluation.
