This product is a medical device. Please read the instructions in the package leaflet carefully and familiarize yourself thoroughly with its functions and use before use.
Description:
For reducing nail discoloration and dissolving brittle nail material, for example, due to fungal nail infections. PACT UREA 40 contains urea (approx. 40%). PACT UREA 40 can dissolve the brittle (or fungus-infected) part of the nail. The damaged part of the nail can be detached and carefully cut off or removed with a nail file.
Application:
- Thoroughly roughen the affected nail at the damaged or fungus-infected areas with a nail file and remove the nail material using nail scissors.
- Apply the ointment generously to the affected nail once a day, ideally after showering, ensuring the entire nail surface, including the healthy part, is covered. Cover the treated nail with a plaster (bandage) for 24 hours. Tear off the required amount of plaster tape; you may need to use two plasters.
- Repeat the treatment with the ointment daily, removing any excess ointment from the previous application beforehand. Use the enclosed nail file or nail scissors to remove the damaged part of the nail. Depending on the extent of the damage (fungal infection) and the thickness of the nail, this treatment is necessary for 2 to 3 weeks.
- After this 2- to 3-week treatment, the damaged part should be detached. If necessary, the now softened nail material can also be removed by a professional (medical foot care specialist).
- The nail is now soft and supple and can grow back healthy. PACT UREA 40 ointment should now be applied daily without a plaster to keep the nail soft until it has completely grown back (duration: 3-6 months).
In cases of severe nail fungus infection (more than 1/3 of the nail affected, infection near the nail fold, more than 3 toes affected), additional photodynamic treatment with PACT MED by a medical foot care professional (foot care specialist, podiatrist) is recommended, see www.cumdente.com.
When should PACT UREA 40 not be used?
Do not use if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to any of the ingredients in the ointment or to the plaster. Do not swallow, do not apply to damaged skin. Wash your hands after use. Do not apply near the eyes or to mucous membranes. Keep out of reach of children.
What side effects are possible?
In some patients, PACT UREA 40 can cause undesirable side effects: skin redness, skin irritation, moist softening of the skin, and peeling of small scales from the skin surface (desquamation). Any other adverse effects should be reported to the manufacturer.
