Description

The Naproxen Hasco 2-pack is a gel-based medication with analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties. The medication contains naproxen, the active ingredient, and levomenthol, which produces a cooling sensation on the skin and acts as a local anesthetic. The chloral hydrate in the gel dilates blood vessels, allowing for easier absorption of the medication. Naproxen Hasco gel is used for muscle and joint pain associated with osteoarthritis and injuries, including soft tissue injuries.

Composition

The active substance is: naproxen.

1 g of gel contains 100 mg of naproxen.

Excipients: carbomer 5984, sodium hydroxide 30%, levomenthol, chloral hydrate, propylene glycol, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, propyl parahydroxybenzoate, purified water.

Dosage

Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you have any further questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

The gel should be applied externally, topically to the skin. The dosage of Naproxen Hasco is approximately 1 cm of gel, which should be massaged into 1 cm of the skin surface of the painful area. The medication should be applied 4 or 5 times daily, followed by washing of hands unless they are the area being treated.

Action

Naproxen, which is contained in the drug, belongs to the group of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs used topically and has analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. The drug also contains levomenthol and chloral hydrate. The former produces a cooling sensation on the skin and locally dilates blood vessels, facilitating the penetration of the active ingredient into the affected tissue. Furthermore, levomenthol has a local anesthetic effect. Chloral hydrate also supports vasodilation.

Indications

Naproxen Hasco is administered for pain and inflammation of muscles accompanying: osteoarthritis and injuries - joints, tendons or soft tissues.

Contraindications

Naproxen Hasco should not be used by individuals with hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients. Allergies to other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as acetylsalicylic acid, are also contraindicated.

Side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Local skin reactions may occur after application: hypersensitivity, redness, irritation, usually reversible after discontinuation of the drug. Long-term use on large skin areas may result in side effects resulting from the systemic effects of naproxen (e.g., nausea, diarrhea, drowsiness, headaches, hypersensitivity reactions). Photosensitivity reactions are possible. Rarely, erythema, itching, and burning may occur. If shortness of breath or skin changes occur, seek immediate medical attention.

Warnings and precautions

Patients with gastrointestinal ulcers and bleeding disorders should exercise caution when using Naproxen Hasco, as the active ingredient may be absorbed into the bloodstream. Systemic adverse reactions may occur if the gel is applied to large areas or for a prolonged period.

Avoid accidental contact of the gel with eyes or mucous membranes.

Do not use the medicine on damaged skin, skin inflammation or open wounds.

The drug may cause sensitivity to sunlight (including solarium), therefore UV radiation should be avoided during treatment with Naproxen Hasco and for 2 weeks after its completion.

Caution should be exercised in people with hepatic and/or renal impairment.

The gel contains propylene glycol, methyl parahydroxybenzoate and propyl parahydroxybenzoate, which may cause skin hypersensitivity reactions.

Store in a closed container at a temperature below 25°C.
Keep the medicine out of the sight and reach of children.

Use of other medications

Please tell your doctor or pharmacist about all the medicines you are taking, have recently taken or might take, including medicines obtained without a prescription.

No interactions of topical naproxen with other drugs have been observed to date. However, with long-term use on large skin areas, such interactions cannot be completely ruled out.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

The drug should not be used during the first and second trimester of pregnancy except when recommended and supervised by a doctor after careful consideration of the potential benefits to the mother.
