Eqidigest is a multifunctional natural product containing a unique combination of digestive enzymes, prebiotics and probiotics. The synergistic action of these ingredients helps to facilitate digestion, maintain normal digestive tract function, regenerate healthy intestinal flora, quickly eliminate the unpleasant symptoms of dyspeptic syndrome and contribute to stimulating and maintaining the body's self-defence capabilities.
What does Eqidigest contain and what are its benefits?
Digestive enzymes in Eqidigest
These are:
Pancreatin – extracted from pig pancreas
Papain – a proteolytic enzyme of plant origin, extracted from the latex of Carica Papaya
Amylase – extracted from the fungus Aspergillus oryzae, a filamentous fungus that grows predominantly on rice
Enzymes are organic proteins found in all forms of life, both plant and animal. They play an important role in regulating biochemical reactions in metabolic processes, ensuring a balance between the breakdown of nutrients, obtaining the energy necessary for vital functions and the synthesis of the body's own substances.
Prebiotics in Eqidigest
Prebiotics are nutrients that help stimulate the growth and activity of beneficial intestinal flora. An example of a prebiotic is inulin, a group of naturally occurring polysaccharides produced by several types of plants. Inulin is used by plants for energy storage and is found naturally in root vegetables such as chicory root and turnips.
Eqidigest contains a balanced dose of 1000 mg of inulin in each tablet. Inulin, like other dietary fibres, passes through the digestive tract without being digested, reaching the intestine directly where it exerts its prebiotic properties, providing "food" for probiotics and prolonging their life.
Probiotics in Eqidigest
Eqidigest contains Lactobacillus sp (acidophilus, casei, plantarum, rhamnosus, bulgaricus), the most commonly used probiotics with the best results on digestion. These species are most commonly found in the small intestine.
Probiotics are live microorganisms that provide health benefits when administered in adequate amounts. Probiotics are found in small amounts in the stomach and small intestine, and most are found in the colon. The microflora inside the human body consists of more bacteria than human cells. These bacteria help us digest food by synthesising vitamins and other nutrients, metabolising certain medicines and supporting the immune system.
How is Eqidigest administered?
Eqidigest is administered to adults between 3 and 6 tablets per day, to children over 12 years of age one chewable tablet 3 times a day, during or after main meals. Children between 6 and 12 years of age may be given half the adult dose, only on the specific recommendation of a doctor.
Does Eqidigest have any side effects?
No side effects have been observed at the recommended doses. However, at significantly higher doses, it may occasionally cause diarrhoea, constipation, stomach pain, nausea, hyperuricaemia and allergic skin reactions.
Does Eqidigest have any contraindications?
Eqidigest is contraindicated in case of allergy to any of its components and/or hypersensitivity to porcine proteins, in case of acute pancreatitis and/or exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis, and in case of biliary obstruction.
Eqidigest should only be administered during pregnancy and breastfeeding with the consent and under the supervision of a doctor.
