Biotin 10 mg GPH Capsules, 180 capsules
Description
Biotin (vitamin H, vitamin B7) belongs to the group of water-soluble B vitamins and occurs in small amounts in food. It can also be produced endogenously with the help of intestinal bacteria. This vitamin is directly involved in the formation of the ground substance of hair and nails and promotes cell growth in skin and connective tissue. Targeted intake of high-dose biotin can lead to the growth of shiny, strong hair and nails, as well as a radiant complexion. An improved biotin supply has also proven beneficial for existing functional disorders and diseases of the skin, hair, and nails, as it is involved in numerous metabolic and cell division processes. Accordingly, it is a component of fat, carbohydrate, and protein metabolism. Biotin-containing enzymes are involved in gluconeogenesis (the process by which sugars are produced from the body's own proteins and fats), the synthesis of long-chain unsaturated fatty acids, and amino acid metabolism. Furthermore, biotin is required for antibody production.
Biotin contributes to

Biotin is involved in maintaining healthy skin and its appendages (hair and nails). It increases the incorporation of sulfur-containing amino acids into hair follicle cells, thereby increasing the proportion of keratin matrix proteins. Biotin is also partly responsible for the formation of keratin and collagen. These structural proteins help keep skin, hair, and nails strong and elastic.
Causes for an increased need for biotin can include an unbalanced diet or restrictive diets, as well as impaired gut flora function. A deficiency can sometimes manifest as seborrheic dermatitis, hair loss, nausea, diarrhea, and lipid metabolism disorders.
