It plays a role in the formation of red blood cells, the mobilization of iron, energy production, and the formation of connective tissue. It also protects cell membranes from free radicals. Copper contributes to the formation of the pigment melanin, which gives skin and hair their color. Insufficient copper intake can lead to anemia (iron deficiency), as well as pigment disorders of the skin, nervous system dysfunction, and impaired bone formation. In this formula, copper is present in the form of orotate. The orotate form facilitates the absorption of copper into the cells.
