Description
DracoFoam Infection
Polyhexanide-containing foam wound dressing for infected wounds
DracoFoam Infekt is a foam dressing for infected wounds and an ideal, silver-free solution for combating infections in chronic and acute wounds. Microorganisms are inactivated within the polyurethane foam by the antimicrobial polyhexanide (PHMB). The polyhexanide in the dressing acts as a barrier, absorbing microorganisms from wound exudate and preventing bacterial colonization and spread within the dressing. This reduces the bacterial load, preventing wound infections or at least containing their spread. DracoFoam Infekt's high exudate absorption and evaporation rate, combined with its ability to bulge against the wound bed, promotes granulation and contributes to wound infection control and faster wound healing. It is also comfortable for the patient, as polyhexanide is not absorbed or leads to resistance. Its excellent tissue compatibility makes it suitable even for damaged skin surrounding the wound. The foam dressing does not stick to the wound, minimizing pain during dressing changes. The wound dressing allows for good gas exchange and creates an ideal moist wound environment. Therefore, DracoFoam Infekt is also well-suited for the treatment of chronic and secondarily healing wounds. DracoFoam Infekt can be used for the treatment of highly exuding wounds, including acute and chronic moderately to heavily exuding wounds in the exudative and granulation phases, as well as superficial wounds, leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, second-degree burns, and on skin donor sites. DracoFoam Infekt can be used with compression therapy. DracoFoam Infekt is not self-adhesive and can be optimally secured, for example, with elastic bandages such as DracoSumbi or DracoElfi.
