Transparent wound plaster for dry and vulnerable skin areas

The Tegaderm 3M Film 10x12 cm is a transparent, waterproof, and breathable pre-applied dressing for the reliable coverage of dry, superficial wounds and vulnerable skin. It creates an ideal moist wound environment, thus supporting natural wound healing. Thanks to its hypoallergenic adhesive, the film dressing is particularly gentle on the skin and suitable for sensitive skin.

Areas of application and effect

The film can be used as a final secondary dressing over other wound dressings to securely fix them and protect them from external moisture. As a primary dressing, it is suitable for dry, superficial wounds such as leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, first- and second-degree burns, split-thickness skin graft donor sites, lacerations, and abrasions. It is also suitable for covering catheter insertion sites and securing drains and tubes. Even vulnerable skin areas can be effectively protected from external influences with Tegaderm film.

Application

Before application, the skin and surrounding area should be thoroughly cleaned and gently dried. The film dressing is then positioned appropriately and carefully pressed down to ensure it lies flat and without wrinkles. As a secondary dressing, it is applied directly over the primary dressing to secure it. As a primary dressing, it is applied directly to the dry, superficial wound. The duration of wear depends on the condition of the wound and the surrounding area and should be assessed individually.

Warning and caution notices

The dressing should not be used on heavily weeping, deep, or infected wounds, as no information is available regarding its suitability for these conditions. If signs of skin irritation or intolerance occur, such as redness or itching at the adhesive points, the dressing should be removed and further use carefully reconsidered. Take care to remove the dressing gently when changing it to avoid unnecessary skin irritation.
