Schizandra

This supplement is based on the Schizandra fruit, which contains powerful ingredients that protect the body. It also contains antioxidants that fight free radicals and help strengthen the immune system. Schizandra is considered a rich source of immunomodulators, substances that help the body adapt to environmental conditions and also have antioxidant properties. The immunomodulators present in Schizandra seeds are not found in other fruits and vegetables.

In addition to its exceptional immunomodulatory and adaptogenic properties, Schizandra is also a liver protector. Liver protection is achieved by:

• reducing serum transaminase levels and improving liver function in liver damage, excessive alcohol consumption, viruses, various toxins, or in cases of fat accumulation inside cells and anarchic cell division
• stimulating hepatic gluconeogenesis – the conversion of amino acids and lipids into glucose and normal blood glucose levels by maintaining cell sensitivity to insulin
• reducing the production of reactive intermediate metabolites in phase I and stimulating phase II of hepatic detoxification

Other properties on the body are:

• adaptation of the body to stress (physical, mental, immune, thermal, etc.) through a ‘cortisone-like’ effect, stimulation of the synthesis of ‘heat shock proteins’ and modulation of adrenaline and noradrenaline levels.

Perfectly ripe, sun-dried fruits are still used today for medicinal purposes, including in dermatocosmetic products.

The chemical composition of Schizandra has been thoroughly studied. The fruits contain reducing sugars and up to 10% organic acids (carboxylic, malic, citric, tartaric).

The seeds contain alkaloids, fatty esters and reducing sugars; however, no flavones, glycosides or tannins are found in the seeds or fruits. Schizandrin A, B and C are bioactive chemical compounds extracted from the fruits of Schisandra chinensis.

They can be administered in powder, pill or liquid form, only on the recommendation of a doctor. Schizandra can also be purchased as whole, dried fruits or in juice form. Normally, the packaging of supplements based on Schisandra chinensis specifies the recommended dose for administration.

Unless otherwise recommended by your doctor, take 2 capsules twice a day with meals.

No contraindications for consumption have yet been identified. As there is a lack of information on safety and efficacy during pregnancy and breastfeeding, it is advisable not to use schizandra without medical advice.
