Strataderm

Strataderm is a silicone gel that acts on abnormal scars (hypertrophic or keloid) through several mechanisms. By realigning the collagen fibres in the affected skin, it increases resistance to tension or stretching and promotes elasticity. By moisturising, Strataderm flattens hypertrophic scars, while also reshaping them and evening out their colour. It is also useful in reducing the local symptoms caused by this type of scar, such as pruritus (itching), pain or erythema (redness).

Strataderm is recommended for the treatment of hypertrophic scars (thickened, enlarged and raised with a different pigmentation from the rest of the skin) and keloid scars (smooth, often located on the face, chest, shoulders and ears, with a hard consistency).

Treatment may be recommended after surgical procedures to correct these scars, or preventively in people prone to abnormal scarring (personal or family history, skin type, age - young people being more prone than older people).

Strataderm is recommended for both new and older abnormal scars, generally less than 2 years old.

Strataderm has been studied in several clinical trials and has been shown to be effective on all types of scars, including post-surgical, post-traumatic, burns, bites and acne scars.

Strataderm is intended for hypertrophic or keloid scars. Do not use the product on other types of lesions, especially on wounds or mucous membranes.

Strataderm is generally applied once a day for a period of approximately 90 days. On the advice of your doctor, you can apply Strataderm several times a day. Before applying the product, the skin should be clean and dry.

The difference between Stratamed and Strataderm is primarily their composition. Strataderm contains polydimethylsiloxane, siloxane and alkyl methyl silicone, while Stratamed contains polysiloxanes and siloxane resin.

It is important to consider why you are choosing Stratamed or Strataderm. For example, both preparations can be used to prevent abnormal scarring, but Stratamed can also be used on wounds, while Strataderm is not recommended for these types of injuries.

When comparing Strataderm and Contratubex, we see that although the two preparations have similar indications, they have different compositions. Contratubex presents a higher risk of allergic reactions in people at risk, and treatment is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women.
