Colodrix is a dietary supplement in powder form intended for adults. The active ingredient of the preparation is lactitol. The daily serving contains 10 mg of this ingredient.
What is lactitol?
Lacitol is a sugar compound consisting of galactose and sorbitol, which is not digested by the digestive enzymes of the gastrointestinal tract. It is fermented by intestinal microflora into short-chain fatty acids (SCFA). Lactitol is minimally absorbed in the small intestine, so it reaches the large intestine, where it is broken down by colonic bacteria into short-chain fatty acids, including butyric acid.
