Haddrell's Manuka honey is certified UMF™, which is an international standard confirming that the honey comes from New Zealand and is characterized by unique, verified properties.

UMF™ certificate – guarantee of authenticity

Each jar of UMF™ certified Manuka honey undergoes nine independent laboratory tests:

• four tests that verify the quality of honey in accordance with the UMF™ quality assurance system.
• five tests that meet the export requirements of the New Zealand Ministry of Primary Industries. Only honey that passes all these tests can receive the UMF™ certification.

The UMF™ (Unique Mānuka Factor) mark guarantees that the honey is authentic, comes from New Zealand and contains all the characteristic properties, such as: MGO (potency), Leptosperin (authenticity), DHA (durability), HMF (freshness). Each test result is combined into one indicator, e.g. UMF™ 10+. The higher the UMF™ number, the higher the concentration of unique honey components.

MGO™ rating system

The MGO™ rating system reflects the content of methylglyoxal (MGO), a substance naturally occurring in honey produced from manuka shrubs, per kilogram of honey. The higher the MGO content, the higher the level of honey. MGO 570+ means that the honey contains at least 570 mg of methylglyoxal per kilogram.
