Alugastrine Max Protect is a medical device in the form of an oral suspension contained in single-dose sachets of 10 ml each. The product is indicated for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux symptoms. It has three synergistic actions:

• blocking acid reflux,
• reducing heartburn,
• protection of the esophageal mucosa.

The medical device contains sodium alginate and sodium carbonates, which have a physical mechanism of action. On contact with gastric acid, sodium alginate gels and carbonates release carbon dioxide, which transports the gel particles to the surface of the gastric contents, thus creating a "cork". This blocks the passage of stomach contents into the esophagus. In addition, the presence of bicarbonate reduces the acidity in the stomach. The above properties and the simultaneous mechanical barrier effect make Alugastrine Max Protect protect the esophageal mucosa against the aggressive effects of acids. This promotes regeneration and helps prevent reflux esophagitis from recurring.
